Chief Economist for Zonda, the largest new home construction data company in North America. As head of the Economics Department, Ali manages and analyzes the content for Zonda, runs special research projects, strategizes with the nation’s largest homebuilders, and presents nationwide covering topics across the housing market and wider economy.
Ali is the creator of Zonda’s proprietary indices, including the New Home Pending Sales Index and the New Home Lot Supply Index. Ali has focused much of her career on understanding prior recessions and led the charge on ‘Millennials discussing Millennials’ in the homebuilding space. Highly regarded as an industry expert, Ali is quoted frequently in national publications including CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Yahoo! Finance, and has also appeared on national and international TV and radio programs such as Bloomberg TV and Marketplace. Further, Ali serves as an advisor to the White House, providing data and insights on the U.S. housing market.
Prior to joining the Zonda team, Ali worked for another consultancy firm and was a researcher for both the Canadian and UK Parliaments. Ali holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in Economics and a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics in Real Estate Economics and Finance.
Bill Owens, a Worthington, Ohio-based, remodeler and home builder with more than 40 years of experience in the residential construction industry is NAHB’s 2026 Chairman.
Owens is president of Owens Construction, a leading residential design/build firm in central Ohio that he established in 1982. The company’s award-winning designs focus on integrating seamless appearance, energy efficient technology and creating welcoming home environments.
For decades, Owens has been an active participant in the NAHB leadership structure at the local, state and national levels. He currently serves as a senior life delegate of the NAHB Leadership Council and has been a member of the NAHB Board of Directors for more than 20 years.
Demonstrating outstanding leadership at the national level, Owens has served as chairman of the NAHB Remodelers Council, the Home Builders Institute and the NAHB Leading Suppliers Council. He also served as vice chairman of the Home Innovation Research Labs, as an NAHB state representative and as NAHB National Area 6 chairman.
At the national level, Owens also previously served as the chairman of The New American Home and The New American Remodel Task Forces, and also led the following the committees: Environmental Issues, and Construction Liability, Risk Management and Building Materials. He has also been an NAHB Continuing Education Instructor.
Active locally in the leadership of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio, Owens served on its Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2005. He was named the association’s Remodeler of the Year in 1999, 2000 and 2003 and recognized as Builder of the Year in 2009.
On the state level, Owens has been a member of the Ohio Home Builders Association’s Board of Trustees since 1999 and is a life director. He was also president of the Ohio HBA in 2011. In 2025, the OHBA presented Owens the Garson-McDaniel Memorial Award. This prestigious lifetime achievement award recognizes his significant, long-term dedication to the residential construction industry and the association.
A member of Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies Remodeling Futures Steering Committee, Owens has worked with non-profits such as the Better Living Design Institute and Partners for Community and Character. He holds designations as a Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist and Certified Green Professional™.
Believing education is a cornerstone of the future, Owens devotes time to professional development, workforce development and the International Builders’ Show. His educational pursuits led to his leadership at the Home Builders Institute, where he served as chairman of its 2010 Board of Trustees.
Owens and his wife, Betsy, enjoy working together in their business and serving their community.
NAHB’s newly elected senior officers serve on a multi-year leadership ladder.
Federal Legislative Director for housing finance issues at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). He has nearly a decade of experience lobbying state and local governments, Congress and the White House on behalf of the real estate industry. Before entering the field of government affairs, he worked for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and served as a legislative aide in the Louisiana Senate.
Thomas Berrington serves as Director of Information Systems and Technology at The Shinn Group, leading the company's technology strategy and operations. Additionally, Thomas consults with various homebuilders, guiding them in technology strategies and development projects. Committed to lifelong learning, Thomas holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration, both from New Mexico State University, complemented by multiple professional certifications. He actively participates in several IT and homebuilding industry communities, reflecting his dedication to innovation and excellence. Thomas's visionary leadership and industry expertise make him an influential figure in the homebuilding technology landscape.
Wade Messenger entered the Homebuilding industry in 2005 just after graduating from the University of New Mexico and achieving a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. Wade started his career with PulteGroup as a new home Sales Consultant, worked his way up to the General Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales. In 2021 Wade took over all operations for the New Mexico Division and is currently their Division President. Wade was born and raised in New Mexico where he is currently on the Executive board for NAIOP NM and has previously served with the Homebuilders Association of Central New Mexico.
Eric Lynch is an Economist in the Survey Research group at NAHB where he is responsible for conducting and assisting with surveys, including NAHB’s sentiment indicators for multifamily & remodeling, and other related housing topics. In addition, he provides data and information on housing topics related issues to NAHB members, staff, financial institutions, and other stakeholders. Prior to joining NAHB, he worked as a Senior Associate in the Research & Knowledge department at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), gaining industry knowledge on the built environment and residential market. He has a B.A. in Political Science/Economics & Spanish from Towson University and a M.S. in Applied Economics from the University of Maryland.
Eric is also a Certified Business Economist™ (CBE), the certification in business economics and data analytics developed by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE). The CBE documents a professional's accomplishment, experience, abilities, and demonstrates mastery of the body of knowledge critical for a successful career in the field of economics and data analytics.
